Executive Coaching

Outcome-oriented, holistic coaching to expand your leadership and personal toolkit

Integrate and Improve All Areas of Your Life

Achieve Sustainable and Transformative Change

  • Identify areas in your life you’d like to change, and actually make that change happen (and stick)

  • Have more bandwidth and tools at your disposal to handle professional and personal challenges

  • Feel more confident and in control of your life

An individualized, one-on-one coaching program with Certified Integral Coach® Ilana Tandowsky can help you get there.

How it Works

After a thorough intake process, I create a customized, comprehensive coaching program. The coaching plan includes goals that we set together, expected outcomes from our work, and the weekly homework that will help you get there.

We will meet bi-weekly to review your progress against the goals and outcomes and make any necessary adjustments.

Your time commitment will be necessary for the efficacy of this process.

More on the Intake Process:

A Comprehensive Look at Your Life

Based on your input, I may conduct a 360 interview of your team (including board members, as appropriate), in order to gain a more complete understanding of your work life and your role within it.

In addition, we may use tools like the Enneagram or MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) to further understand how your preferences and behaviors impact your experience of yourself and others.

My Approach to Coaching

Integral Coaching – A Holistic Approach to Professional and Personal Transformations

What is Integral Coaching?

Integral coaching is a holistic approach to personal and professional development that takes into account all areas of an individual’s life. The experience of integral coaching is multi-dimensional with a goal of enabling the individual to realize sustainable and transformative change.

How is it different from other types of coaching/professional development?

Integral coaching recognizes that people are complex and that their challenges and hopes for their lives cannot be fully addressed by solely focusing on one professional challenge. Instead, integral coaches look at all areas that support personal development and the journey towards self-awareness and sustainable transformation.

Whereas executive coaching focuses on enhancing leadership skills and performance within the context of a specific role, integral coaching takes a broader perspective that has the potential to impact and shore up critical skills that foster long-term transformation and well-being.

What is the goal?

Ultimately, I see the coaching work as helping someone transition from using one or two tools to address a variety of problems to having more surface area (and related tools) from which to daw from in any given professional or personal challenge.

By the end of our work together, the client is able to be self-generating and self-correcting in the areas they initially identified as critical for change. They have the incentives and the skills to continue the work on their own.

My clients come from many different organizations, including the following:

Coaching can help you…

Client Story

Client’s Goal
A client wanted to improve her communication skills and ability to influence at the senior levels.

The Problem
During the intake process, it became clear she was working all the time and not tending to her own needs. She mentioned that in the past she used swimming as a way to cope with the stress of work – she loved the feeling of weightlessness in the water and she often did some great problem solving during her swims.

The Solution
Our coaching plan included being near the water or swimming as part of her weekly homework. She found this practice enormously healing and it ended up (along with other parts of her plan more directly focused on executive communication) being a source of strength and inspiration for her growing leadership presence.

Outcomes:

  • Find sustainable ways to take care of yourself

  • Create practices that ground you and build your capabilities

Client Story

Problem
A senior retail executive felt burnt out and lethargic at work, struggled to find time for anything non-work related, and felt his personal relationships and health were suffering.

His initial request was to focus on finding balance in his schedule.

Approach
In taking a holistic look at his life, we were able to identify and take on the larger task of uncovering what brought him fulfillment outside of work and finding sustainable ways to pursue that.

Outcomes and Impact
As he focused more on what he wanted in his life outside of work, he became more fully himself. His marriage was strengthened, he felt grounded, nurtured, and more at-ease with himself and his life.

He was more decisive and confident in his viewpoint at work, more self-assured and relaxed in his leadership role.

He now knows what a meaningful and sustainable personal and professional balance looks like for him, and how to prioritize and nurture that for the long-term. The client now takes the knowledge he has gained to proactively manage his career so the work and the time he spends align with his personal values.

Outcomes:

  • Become a more decisive and confident leader

  • Improve your personal relationships

Client Story

Problem
An executive felt that their manager was not seeing the excellent work they were doing and the value they were bringing to the organization.

Approach
We worked together on how best to quantify their value (mostly to help the exec build the confidence in their full picture) and present that view to the manager.

Outcomes and Impact
The conversation went well: it confirmed the exec’s value in the organization and built their confidence in addressing these concerns much earlier.

The Exec now regularly has conversations with their manager to ensure they are on the same page and see the value the exec is bringing in the same way.

The Exec reports feeling consistently supported and valued for their skills and impact on the org.

Outcomes:

  • Get comfortable having hard conversations

  • Make sure your skills and impact are being properly valued at work

  • Feel supported and valued at work

Client Story

Problem
A Finance leader with a long and respected career in a large tech organization first approached me with wanting to learn how to communicate better with the executive leaders in her organization.

Approach
Through our guided exploration, it became clear to her that communication with others was not the core issue; she was no longer sure that the role she was in was a good fit for her skills or her personal and professional goals.

Outcome and Impact
The client was able to recognize what was missing in her current role in order for her to feel fulfilled, and ultimately decided her needs would be better met elsewhere. She is now thriving at a new company, feels headed in the right direction, and has the tools to identify when she needs to make adjustments in her life and the confidence to do so.

Outcomes:

  • Identify when it’s time to make major changes

  • Feel in control of your life

  • "Ilana might be one of the most incredible humans I've worked with in my career. Her level of care, professionalism, knowledge, and experience are unparalleled. I'd welcome the chance to work with her again and will continue to lean on her as an advisor."
